Installing Focen
Focen installs like any other Mac app, with one thing worth knowing up front: it lives in your menu bar, not your Dock. Here is the whole process.
1. Drag Focen into Applications
Open the .dmg you downloaded. A window opens with the Focen icon and an Applications folder. Drag Focen onto Applications. That copies it where macOS expects apps to live, so it shows up in Spotlight and Launchpad.
2. Eject the installer
After the copy finishes, eject the Focen installer disk: find Focen in the Finder sidebar (or on your desktop) and click the eject arrow, or drag it to the Trash. Running Focen straight from the installer instead of from Applications is the most common reason it does not appear where you expect, so this step matters.
3. Open it once from Applications
Open your Applications folder and double-click Focen. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without the unidentified-developer warning.
The first time Focen looks at your browser, macOS asks whether to let Focen control it. Say OK. That is how Focen sees which site you are on, and without it Focen cannot tell a page you are working on from one you are not.
Focen has no Dock icon, on purpose.
It runs quietly as a small dot in the top-right of your screen, in the menu bar next to your clock and Wi-Fi. If you open Focen and nothing appears in the Dock, that is expected: look up at the menu bar and click the Focen dot to open its panel.
Not showing in Spotlight or Launchpad?
In almost every case, opening Focen once from your Applications folder fixes this: macOS indexes the app the first time it launches from there. If it still does not appear, make sure you did step 2, then open Focen from Applications again.
Updating
Focen updates itself. When a new version is ready, it downloads and installs in the background, and you keep your settings and history. You do not need to reinstall from the website.
